Embedded devices

Overview

In addition to standard physical printed payment cards, Highnote also supports cards that live on physical embedded devices such as wearables.

We call the latter "external" payment cards as they are implemented through an external vendor.

Fulfillment

  • Form Factors: Wearable
  • Supported Vendors: External vendor

Cardholders can load a virtual payment card onto a wristband or other an embedded device using your application integrated with the vendor's personalization platform.

Once personalized, the vendor calls Highnote's API to log the external payment card order into Highnote's system.

Create external physical card order

Your external vendor calls the createExternalPhysicalPaymentCardOrder mutation to update the form factor of the Highnote virtual card with embedded device details.

External physical card orders require the Id of the Highnote virtual card, as well as the following embeddable device details:

  • Image (String): The URL to an image of the device
  • Name (String): A descriptor assigned to the device by the user or application
  • Serial Number (String): An alphanumeric unique designator for the device
  • Variant (String): A free-form field used to provide additional information about the device
