2. The merchant sends a pre-authorization transaction message to Highnote.
3. Highnote interprets the transaction message as a dual-message AuthorizationEvent for $75 to cover the cost of fuel.
4. The cardholder dispenses fuel and spends $50.
5. The merchant sends Highnote a clearing event for $50.
6. Highnote interprets the transaction message as a ClearingEvent for $50 and initiates a ReversalEvent for the $25 extra that was originally authorized.
